    A very scarce fractional denomination from this elusive 1776 issue. The note itself is housed in a comment-free holder and has great eye appeal for the grade. The Tilghmans were a famous colonial Maryland family and to this day Tilghman's Island is located on the Eastern shore near St. Michaels. This note is signed by Richard Tilghman Jr who, unlike colonial patriot Tench, sided with the Crown and served in the British military.
